Going Above and Beyond for a Cause Close to Home

Attention DC Diners! We have a hot tip for you:

There’s more reason to head to Freddie’s Beach Bar in Arlington, Virginia, on Thursday March 11th, than just your love of pink flamingoes and umbrella-adorned drinks. This year, Freddie’s has become the FIRST and ONLY restaurant to commit 110% of their proceeds from Dining Out for Life to Food & Friends. That’s right, one hundred and TEN percent!

In deciding this year to go above and beyond, owner Freddie Lutz explained that “Food & Friends is a cause that is close to my heart. I had an ex-lover who died of AIDS. Not only do we know all the good work that Food & Friends does, but we also like to give back to the community.”

In what are still rough economic times for most restaurants in the area, Freddie’s extraordinary commitment to the Washington community and to the thousands of individuals battling HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses that Food & Friends serves each year, offers a reminder that we can all dig a little deeper, make that extra effort and, on THURSDAY, MARCH 11TH, WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE SIMPLY BY DINING OUT!

Visit www.foodandfriends.org/dol for a complete list of Food & Friends’ 147 participating restaurants.

What a wonderful story and what an amazing restaurant. All local business owners should be as generous.
