Everything’s bigger in Texas


The city that brought us Howard Hughes, Hillary Duff, and Beyonce is now joining the good fight against HIV/AIDS and donating funds towards AIDS Foundation Houston. On Thursday, April 28, 2011, restaurants across Houston have agreed to donate 33% of their sales from the day to the nonprofit organization.

With this money, the AIDS Foundation Houston will be able to continue to have programs and services that provide housing, case management, and food assistance to nearly 5,000 HIV positive men, women, and children in the area. This is Texas’ first organization dedicated to HIV prevention education and services and has been going strong since 1982. Dining Out for Life in an opportunity to support both local businesses and this organization that’s making a significant difference in Houston’s HIV/AIDS population.

Try not to be overwhelmed when you go to Dining Out For Life to browse the list of participating restaurants. One spotlight-worthy restaurant is Riva’s Italian Restaurant, which will be donating every single penny made on April 28 to Dining Out for Life. Located at 1112 Missouri Street in Houston, Riva’s offers pork, lamb, seafood, and chicken in delicious dishes for both lunch and dinner.

If a creative name says anything about the quality of a restaurant, then Houston’s Dining Out for Life options renders lots of good restaurants. With choices like The Breakfast Klub (3711 Travis Street), The Boom Boom Room (2518 Yale Street), and Tacos A Go-Go (3704 Main Street), as possibilities for the April 28, 2011 event, you’ll be sure to find something for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
